
Biography
Alethia Jackson
Alethia is a purpose and results driven executive with a strong healthcare and retail background. She is
an expert in navigating heavily regulated industries with strong consumer facing demand and in
developing and implementing strategy. Alethia has expertise in corporate governance, compliance and
risk mitigation, workforce diversity and inclusion, and sustainability. Through her roles leading
Government Relations, ESG and DEI, Alethia has worked closely with Boards: reporting quarterly to the
Compensation and Leadership Performance Committee on leadership performance goals and workforce
diversity, and annually to the Nomination and Governance Committee on legislative and ESG initiatives.
As Senior Vice President of ESG and Chief DEI Officer for WBA (NYSE: WBA), Alethia leads a 30+ person
organization, responsible for developing and implementing data driven sustainability, diversity and
inclusion, and community impact strategies. Alethia’s role includes navigating the developing ESG
regulatory landscape, advising the Board Nomination and Governance Committee and responding to
investor inquiries through which she has gained deep experience understanding the factors that drive
decision making of institutional investors. She also manages a $30 million philanthropic budget. Under
Alethia’s leadership WBA was named Disability:IN’s Employer of the Year for 2023 recognizing its
commitment to representation of people with disabilities across its workforce. Alethia previously held
the role of Vice President of Federal Affairs for Walgreens, where she managed the company’s legislative
and regulatory portfolio, as well as brand reputation. During the COVID-19 pandemic Alethia chaired
Walgreens’ COVID-19 Vaccine Equity Task Force, leading the Company’s health equity efforts in medically
underserved and socially vulnerable communities. This community-based partnership strategy resulted
in 28 million doses of the vaccine being administered in 30 different underserved communities and 1,200
community based clinics in 46 states. During Alethia’s tenure at America's Health Insurance Plans, she
advised healthcare company CEOs on developing public-private partnerships with the US government
and crisis management. She also developed operational strategies for the implementation of the
Medicare Prescription drug program.
Alethia has extensive non-profit board experience, including currently serving on the Executive
Committee of the Board of Trustees for Arena Stage Theater in Washington DC where she is co-chair of
the Governance Committee. In 2022, Alethia helped lead a nationwide search for a new artistic director
for Arena Stage as a member of the Executive Search Committee. She also serves as Secretary of the
Board of Trustees for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Inc.
Alethia is patron of the arts and is passionate about women in leadership. Alethia holds a Juris Doctor
degree from Syracuse University College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University
of New York at Albany. Alethia resides in Washington, D.C.
